Planning Your Event

Planning an event and not sure where to start?
Here’s a basic outline for any event.

Step 1 - Location

Deciding on the location is your first action after assessing your guest count, their needs and your budget. Whether you have the event in your backyard or at a facility you will need to consider the distance to the location, ease of access, permits, facility restrictions and any special needs.

Step 2 - Theme

After picking a location you can plan the theme and feel of your event. Whether you are having a formal event or something of a more casual nature you will want a basic theme for ease of planning. The theme includes everything from decorations to the type of food you will be serving.

Step 3 - Booking/Reservations

Once you have the location and the theme decided it’s time to put your plan into action. You will need to confirm your event date, reserve the location, and secure any items that you will need that are not provided by the venue. This will include renting party equipment if needed and also booking any entertainment.

Step 4 - Invitations

After these initial steps you will be ready to invite your guests. Invitations should go out 4 to 6 weeks before your event.

Step 5 - Re-Confirm

The week of your event you will need to reconfirm everything. This would include the guest count, food ordered - whether through a caterer or carry out, to the rentals and the location. The location confirmation should include confirming start and end times on the contract.

These are the basic steps that will help to make your event a success.
Any additional planning will add to your event and its realization. Now it's time to enjoy your party!
